The Prestonian Lecturer for 2012 has been named as Tony Harvey. As well as being an experienced Freemason, Tony has been a national volunteer with The Scout Association for the past 25 years. He is also Provincial Grand mentor for Derbyshire and actively involved in the Derbyshire Festival 2014.
For the past five years, Tony has promoted a better undertsanding of Freemasonry within Scouting and vice versa. As two organisations with similar values and shared challenges, both UGLE and The Scout Association recognise the potential that ongoing communication can have for the future.
In his Prestonian Lecture, Tony will outline the many similarities between Scouting and Freemasonry - as well as some key differences.
Tony will also spend some time describing the work that Freemasons are doing to support Scouting, and explain how Freemasonry can learn from an organisation that is growing in membership.
